Newly Elected TRA Leaders Reflect Diversity of Texas Restaurant Industry
The new slate of Texas Restaurant Association (TRA) leaders, led by Jerry Walker, J & J Subway Holdings Inc., Dallas, took office at the annual meeting held at the Texas Restaurant Association Marketplace, June 28 in Dallas, Texas. These restaurateurs include independent operators, franchise owners and family owned businesses, and combined have more than 100 years of experience in the industry. TRA's 2015-2016 President Jerry Walker has been a member of the Texas Restaurant Association since 1997, has served as chairman of the Texas Restaurant Association Education Foundation, and president of the Dallas chapter. He owns and operates J & J Subway Holdings Inc. in Dallas. "It is my honor to serve as president of the Texas Restaurant Association for the next twelve months. I plan to continue the incredible work of my predecessors, and build on their achievements," said Walker. "I am looking forward to personally visiting with our members across the state to strengthen relationships, and establish new ones to benefit our great industry and association." Serving as officers with Walker are President-Elect Tap Bentz, Outback Steakhouse, College Station; Vice President Mark Davis Bailey, The Original Pancake House, Dallas; and Secretary-Treasurer Jimmy Hasslocher, Frontier Enterprises/Jim's Restaurants, San Antonio. The restaurant industry is a valuable part of our state and region's economic growth and job creation. The Texas restaurant industry is projected have sales of $44.5 billion and employ over 1.2 million people in 2015. "We are truly fortunate that such high caliber people choose to be involved with the Texas Restaurant Association, to give generously of their time and expertise," said Richie Jackson, TRA CEO.
